In collaboration with Sadar+Vuga, OUD+Architects designed the offices of the Millennium Foundation Kosovo, a branch of the U.S. Government’s Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC).
The project is located within the modernist landmark of the former Ljubljanska Banka in the center of Prishtina. The design strategy was grounded in a careful reading of the existing building, treating it as a spatial and material framework rather than a neutral shell. Interventions were deliberately restrained, preserving the original architectural character and altering interior elements only where necessary to accommodate contemporary office requirements.
A mid-century inspired material palette and bespoke furnishings were introduced to complement the building’s modernist language, creating a coherent dialogue between existing structure and new insertions. Rather than relying on formal gestures, the project focuses on atmosphere, proportion, and material continuity, allowing the interior to reflect both institutional clarity and everyday functionality.
The resulting workspace balances formality with openness, offering a calm and durable environment suited to long-term institutional use. Through minimal intervention and precise material choices, the project demonstrates how adaptive reuse can reinforce the architectural value of modernist heritage while meeting present-day programmatic needs.
